It was founded in 2015 in Basel (Switzerland) and focuses nowadays on supporting refugees, asylum seekers and local vulnerable communities in our community centre in Ioannina, Northern Greece. In addition to material, social, educational and recreational support, BAAS also carries out awareness-raising and information activities in Switzerland. The centre is run by a team of coordinators and volunteers, and exclusively founded by donations. Our work is politically independent.Job descriptionWe are seeking an intern to support our Fundraising Coordinators, our remote Fundraising Working Group and the project on the ground. Under the supervision of the coordination team, the intern will spend half their time supporting the fundraising team in their endeavours, and the other half working on the project with other volunteers and the Project Coordination team. We are looking for someone ready to start as soon as possible for a minimum duration of 3 months. The start date is flexible.Fundraising:Grant research and mapping - identifying potential donors (foundations, institutions, embassies, funding calls) aligned with BAAS' workProposal writing support - assisting in drafting grant applications and concept notesDonor reporting - helping compile narrative and financial reports, collect data, and present impact storiesContent creation - drafting social media posts, and website content to engage donors with our PR teamDatabase management - maintaining and update donor databases, track applications, and monitor deadlinesCampaign planning - assisting in organising fundraising and crowdfunding campaigns or outreach initiativesPartnership outreach - supporting communication and outreach with local businesses and individual donors for monetary and non-monetary fundraisingResearch and story-telling - gathering testimonies and field insights to strengthen fundraising materialsStrategy implementation - supporting the fundraising coordinators in the implementation of the 2026 strategyMonitoring funding trends - stay informed on humanitarian funding priorities, particularly in Greece and the EUProject:Running the daily activities of the community centre with the volunteer teamRunning and restocking the free clothes shopLeading language classesOrganising and/or partaking in social activities (arts and crafts, kids activities, activities in the women's space, sports, board games, etc.)Cooking in the community kitchenSupporting coordinators at the reception deskKeeping the centre clean, safe and welcome space for everyoneRequirements:Being able to reside legally in the European Union for the duration of the internshipStarting date as soon as possibleMinimum commitment of 3 monthsVery good command in written and verbal EnglishCommand of Greek or any other language desiredDesired knowledge of the local context, refugee rights and the fundraising market (with willingness to learn)Ability to work in a team and independentlyEnthusiasm to get involved and partake in required tasksWhat we offer:Free accommodation in a shared apartment in Ioannina, GreeceMeals provided during working daysReference to future career opportunitiesSkill and knowledge development in fundraising, grant writing, report preparation, running campaigns, and understanding the NGO sector and the context of supporting people on the move.Insight into NGO operations and behind-the-scenes workHow to applyIf you are interested, please send us by September 20 2026 a motivation letter and a CV with the subject "Fundraising Intern Application" at this address: fundraising@beawareandshare.ch.
