All employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks, including criminal record checks where possible.Location: Syria - RaqqaNumber of Positions: 5Salary: As per the UNISEF salary scaleJob purpose:The Sub-National Education Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of non-formal education activities on sub-district level in Raqqa Governorate under the UNICEF-funded education programme. The position provides technical and operational leadership to field education teams, ensures effective coordination with local authorities, and other stakeholders, and supports the achievement of project targets while ensuring compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, and education sector standards.The Sub-National Education Coordinator acts as the focal point for education interventions at sub-district level and supports the Education Coordinator in planning, managing, and strengthening the quality and impact of education programming.Major Responsibilitiesa. Lead the day-to-day implementation of all non-formal education project activities across Raqqa Governorate.b. Ensure effective delivery of Back to Learning (BTL), Empowered Learning Programme (ELP), digital learning, remedial education, and other UNICEF-supported education interventions.c. Develop implementation plans, work schedules, and activity tracking mechanisms for education programs.d. Monitor project progress against targets and indicators and take corrective action where necessary.e. Ensure activities are implemented in accordance with approved project documents, work plans, budgets, and timelines.f. Support the Education Coordinator in the scale-up and adaptation of education interventions based on needs and emerging priorities.g. Ensure adherence to UNICEF, INEE Minimum Standards, Ministry of Education guidelines, and organizational education frameworks.h. Monitor the quality of teaching, learning, classroom management, and learner support services.i. Support the development and implementation of quality assurance tools and improvement plans.j. Ensure effective integration of child protection, psychosocial support, inclusion, gender, and safeguarding principles throughout project activities.k. Conduct regular field monitoring visits and provide recommendations to improve programme quality and effectiveness.Safeguardinga. Report adult and child safeguarding incidents for designated area programmes (Levels 1-3)b.
