This position is a highly rewarding role, offering a unique opportunity to work in a close-knit team supporting the provision of safety services to the NGO community.Major ResponsibilitiesTranslate weekly, biweekly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as any other thematic reports elaborated by the program team.Translate documents for internal purposes (letters, working papers, internal and external reports).Standardize key reference terminology, including facility names and geographic administration names.Translate messages, live speeches, voice recordings, and documents between languages, while providing proper context, meaning, tone, and technical wording.Verify, modify and edit translations to compensate for discrepancies in technical terms and to guarantee that the final content is consistent with the original material.Accompany international team members and foreign visitors to facilitate communication between partnership organizations.Mandatory RequirementsEssentialMinimum two years’ work experience in translation.Full working proficiency in English and Arabic is required.Previous experience translating, copyediting, and drafting high-quality analytical products in Arabic and English documents.Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint skillsKnowledge of report production software (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator) is a strong asset.Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or translationCore CompetenciesPrioritisation – Organises tasks effectively, manages competing demands, and meets deadlines with appropriate guidance.Information Management – Processes, organises, and interprets large volumes of information accurately and efficiently.Adaptability – Works effectively across cultures and adapts to different people, situations, and working environments.Attention to Detail – Produces accurate, thorough work and identifies errors or inconsistencies.Communication & Integrity – Communicates respectfully and empathetically, works collaboratively, and handles sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.Terms & ConditionsThis position is based in Damascus and is only open to individuals with the right to live and work in Damascus. 12-month contract with 3-month probation period.INSO’s Safeguarding PolicyINSO is fully committed to safe recruitment, selection and vetting of all potential new staff, trustees and volunteers. INSO Syria
The Syria program supports more than 290 NGOs to deliver vitally needed aid and assistance to an estimated 13.1 million people in need across the country. First launched as an emergency response operation in 2014, INSO Syria has grown to become a program covering all Syrian governorates, with a Country Office in Damascus.
The Syria conflict is unique and complex; you will find that every day is different and there is always more to learn.
Job Summary

Mandatory Requirements
Essential
• Minimum two years’ work experience in translation.
• Full working proficiency in English and Arabic is required.
• Previous experience translating, copyediting, and drafting high-quality analytical products in Arabic and English documents.
• Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint skills
