ECONOMIC INEQUALITY POLICY AND ADVOCACY LEAD

TEAM PURPOSE: The gap between the rich and poor is spiralling out of control. Such extreme economic inequality is standing in the way of ending global poverty and widening other inequalities like the gap between women and men. Around the world, Oxfam works to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. We campaign so that the voices of the poor influence the local and global decisions that affect them. The inequality, advocacy and campaigns team: • Ensures that Oxfam’s influencing around the world including campaigns, advocacy, policy, research is high impact, and achieves systemic change with a focus on inequality and gender, rights & justice. • Leads, convenes & manages Oxfam’s influencing work across the world. Consulting, co-creating and setting the vision and direction of travel for Oxfam’s worldwide influencing work. Embedding an integrated people-powered approach in all of Oxfam’s influencing work. • Enables a strategic approach to working with allies and partners for influencing, ensuring co-creation, organisational humility, and support for partnerships and allyships. JOB PURPOSE: • Thematic lead for the confederation on issues relating to economic inequality, and setting the agenda for specific strands of policy, research and advocacy work within this thematic focus. • Responsible for leading policy and advocacy across the confederation on the economic inequality area. Ensuring high-quality policy and research outputs. • Internal and external representation on economic inequality policy, research and advocacy agendas, in partnership with other teams, OI Advocacy Offices, affiliates, country and regional teams. • Ensuring economic inequality policy, research & advocacy is targeted, high-impact, and influential externally by leading & collaborating across all levels: country, regional and affiliate level. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The postholder will work closely with other issue and thematic leads within the inequality campaign, Oxfam affiliates, country and regional teams, external stakeholders and the media. They will also actively engage with country teams, regional platforms and affiliates to support them in their economic inequality policy, research and advocacy. The post will regularly communicate with and update key external and internal stakeholders.
