Together we can reinforce a culture of respect, integrity, accountability, and transparency.Summary:Project HOPE is seeking a Finance Assistant Consultant to provide administrative and financial support to its emergency response activities in Nepal. The consultant will support financial operations, including financial documentation, payment processing, petty cash tracking, transaction recording, reconciliations, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with Project HOPE procedures, donor requirements, and applicable Nepal statutory requirements in a humanitarian operating environment.In carrying out the scope of work, the consultant will coordinate, as needed, with the Finance Officer, relevant Project HOPE teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.Purpose:The purpose of this consultancy is to provide additional finance capacity to support Project HOPE’s Nepal emergency response and facilitate timely, accurate, and well-documented financial operations during the consultant assignment period.Scope of ConsultancyThe consultant will provide services in the following areas:Financial OperationsSupport recording and maintenance of financial transactions in the accounting system.Review financial documentation for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate approvals.Support payment processing, including vendor and consultant payments, advances, and other approved payments.Prepare payment requests, advance clearances, and related supporting documentation.Support month-end financial close activities and account reconciliations.Cash and Financial RecordsSupport petty cash administration, documentation, tracking, and reconciliation.Maintain payment, advance, contract, and other finance tracking records.Ensure financial documents are properly organized, scanned, filed and archived.Support preparation of weekly cash reports and monthly cash requests.Compliance and ReportingReview supporting documentation for procurement, travel, advances, and expenses to ensure compliance with Project HOPE and donor requirements.Support preparation and processing of personnel-related payments, as applicable and as directed by the Finance Officer.Assist with internal and donor financial reporting.Support finance documentation and processes required under applicable Nepal laws and requirements, as directed.CoordinationCoordinate with the Finance Officer, Nepal program and operations teams, vendors, implementing partners, and Project HOPE HQ Finance as appropriate.Provide regular updates on finance activities, outstanding items, and issues requiring follow-up.EXPECTED OUTPUTSDuring the consultancy period, the consultant is expected to contribute to:Timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.Complete and properly maintained financial documentation and records.Timely processing and tracking of payments, advances, and other approved financial obligations.Accurate petty cash and cash management records and reconciliations.Timely completion of monthly financial close activities and related reporting support.Regular coordination and follow-up with Nepal and HQ Finance teams.Detailed deliverables, timelines, and expectations will be outlined in the consultancy Statement of Work.Duration of Assignment: Approximately 6 monthsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience in finance or administrative support, preferably in NGO, INGO, or humanitarian settings in Nepal.Basic understanding of accounting, financial documentation, payment processing, and petty cash management.Familiarity with applicable Nepal finance, tax, and statutory documentation requirements is preferred.Experience supporting procurement documentation, vendor payments, cash advances, and reconciliations is desirable.Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate financial documentation and records.Ability to manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in an emergency response environment.Strong communication and coordination skills, including the ability to work effectively with field teams, vendors, financial institutions, and implementing partners.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and familiarity with electronic financial or accounting systems; NetSuite experience is desirable.Fluency in Nepali and working proficiency in English are required.The consultancy fee will be determined based on the scope of services, qualifications, and experience of the selected consultant.Notice to applicants: Project HOPE does not conduct direct solicitation/recruitment via email.
