Oky is an open-source mobile menstruation education and period tracking application co-created by UNICEF with and for adolescent girls in low- and middle-income countries. The platform delivers safe, evidence based, and girl centered digital support to address stigma, misinformation, and limited access to quality information on menstruation and adolescent health, while contributing to closing the gender digital divide. Oky is designed to reflect girls’ digital realities, including constraints related to connectivity, device access, literacy, safeguarding, privacy, and data protection. The solution is now scaling globally through a growing network of localized country deployments alongside a maintained global version. As Oky deployments expand, there is a growing need for structured monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) systems, MEL advisory to Oky country deployment teams, guidance on research and evaluation design, facilitation of evaluation exercises, capturing lessons learned to inform cross-country and cross-regional learning, and strengthening the overall evidence base on Oky’s effectiveness, reach, and impact pathways, including the updating the Theory of Change (ToC), including indicators and data collection methods online and offline.
