Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems Centers

The TBI Model Systems Centers conduct research that contributes to the development of and access to evidence-based TBI rehabilitation. The TBIMS Centers must generate new knowledge that can be used to improve outcomes of individuals with TBI in one or more domains identified in NIDILRR's Long Range Plan: health and function, community living and participation, and employment. TBIMS Center grants must conduct site-specific research, collaborative research, and contribute data to the TBIMS longitudinal database. TBIMS Centers will be funded at varying amounts up to the maximum award amount based on the number of of database participants eligible for follow-up in the TBIMS longitudinal database. The grants will have a 60-month project period, with five 12-month budget periods. States; public or private agencies, including for-profit agencies; public or private organizations, including for-profit organizations, IHEs; and Indian tribes and tribal organizations. To be eligible for a TBIMS Center grant an applicant institution must provide a multidisciplinary continuum of care for people with TBI, including emergency medical services, acute care services, acute medical rehabilitation services, and post-acute services. Foreign entities are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.
