Country: Kenya Organization: Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies Closing date: 15 Oct 2026 Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is being a reliable provider for quality and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread throughout Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond. Project Summary MEDS is undertaking a project for construction of a warehousing facility for handling of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) and an office block in Kisumu County. The Clerk of Works reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position is responsible for ensuring that construction work meets project plans, specifications, safety standards and quality requirements. Job holder will be on a fixed term contract of 12 months with possibility of extension. Key Responsibilities: i) Supervise and monitor works on construction site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards ii) Inspect and verify materials delivered and used on site for conformity to specifications and quality standards iii) Monitor workmanship across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing works iv) Maintain detailed site records, including site daily diaries, defect registers and instruction book for architect and consultants v) Act as a liaison between architect, project manager, consultants, contractor(s) and Management, communicating instructions and resolving issues for smooth project execution vi) Report deviations, defects and non-conformities promptly and follow up on execution of corrective and preventive measures vii) Ensure that design and construction work comply with statutory and regulatory requirements for handling of HPTs, including but not limited to, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Storage Practices (GSP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP) as well as health and safety requirements viii) Identify potential problems proactively, advise on technical issues and help in solution development to support timely delivery of the project within budget and quality expectations ix) Prepare and submit progress reports to Management on work progress, quality and site conditions. Candidate Profile: i) Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field from a recognized institution ii) Professional certification or membership with a relevant body (e.g., Institute of Clerk of Works, Engineers Board of Kenya, or equivalent) iii) Minimum five (5) years work experience in supervision of large-scale construction projects iv) Thorough understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities v) Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, statutory and regulatory requirements with emphasis on storage for HPTs vi) Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements on construction sites vii) Ability to monitor construction quality, materials, and workmanship against approved standards viii) Technical competencies: Record keeping, Report writing, Supervision of construction projects for pharma-grade warehouses, MS Office and knowledge of project management software (MS Project Primavera) are added advantages ix) Behavioural attributes; High level of integrity, strong communication and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail and commitment of quality, ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
