We work with the most vulnerable children in the world so they can experience life in all its fullness.Location: Syria – HassakehJob purpose:The Peacebuilding officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring peace-building initiatives within WVSR. S/he will focus on promoting conflict resolution, social cohesion, and community resilience in post-conflict and conflict-prone areas. The Peacebuilding officer will work closely with community leaders, local organizations, governmental bodies, and international partners to develop and foster sustainable peace and development strategies. S/he will ensure that project objectives are met, resources are utilized effectively, and project activities are implemented in line with the project plan.Major Responsibilities:1. Peacebuilding Program Management:Develop and implement peacebuilding activities tailored to the local context, conflict dynamics, and identified community needs.Conduct conflict and context analyses to identify key conflict drivers, risks, stakeholders, and opportunities for peacebuilding.Facilitate dialogue, mediation, and other peacebuilding processes between relevant groups and communities.Ensure gender, diversity, inclusion, conflict sensitivity, and Do No Harm principles are integrated into project design and implementation2. Community Engagement and Participation:Engage with communities and relevant stakeholders to understand their perspectives, priorities, concerns, and peacebuilding needs.Support the establishment and strengthening of community-based peacebuilding structures, committees, and networks.Promote meaningful participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in peacebuilding activities and decision-making processes.Support community-led peacebuilding initiatives and activities that strengthen social cohesion and community resilience..3. Capacity Building and Technical Support:Assess capacity-building needs of community committees, local leaders, stakeholders, and relevant partners.Develop and facilitate training, workshops, awareness sessions, and coaching on conflict resolution, dialogue, peacebuilding, social cohesion, and related topics.Provide technical guidance and ongoing support to community structures and stakeholders implementing peacebuilding initiatives.Support local institutions and community actors to strengthen their capacity to prevent and manage conflicts.4. Research, Context Analysis and Learning:Conduct and regularly update conflict and context analyses relevant to project locations.Monitor emerging peacebuilding trends, conflict dynamics, risks, and opportunities in the operational context.Document lessons learned, good practices, challenges, and innovative approaches from peacebuilding interventions.Use evidence and learning to inform programme adaptation and future peacebuilding initiatives.5. Coordination, Advocacy and Networking:Establish and maintain effective relationships with community leaders, local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.Represent the organization in relevant peacebuilding coordination meetings, forums, workshops, and policy dialogues as required.Coordinate with relevant internal and external actors to strengthen complementarity and avoid duplication of peacebuilding interventions.Identify opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and joint peacebuilding initiatives6. Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation:Develop and follow up on peacebuilding activity plans, workplans, and implementation schedules.Monitor peacebuilding activities to ensure quality, relevance, conflict sensitivity, and achievement of intended results.Prepare regular activity and progress reports, including challenges, achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations.Maintain comprehensive documentation of peacebuilding activities, participant data, training records, meeting minutes, success stories, and other relevant evidence.Support preparation of project proposals, budgets, donor reports, and other programme documentation as required.Knowledge/Qualifications for the RoleRequired Professional Experience:Previous experience in project support or project management.Experience in managing peace-building interventions.Proficiency in project management tools.Strong organizational and time management skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Problem-solving and analytical abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Familiarity with donor regulations, reporting, and compliance.A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in peace-building.Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:Certificate in community / development backgroundResults-oriented and meets datelineAbility to work independently.Results-oriented in performing official duties.Preferred Knowledge and QualificationsBachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, law, or a relevant field.Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivityExcellent English and Arabic communication skills (both oral and written)Good networking and partnership development skillsCommunication, advocacy & facilitation skillsTravel and/or Work Environment RequirementThe position requires ability and willingness to travel to other WV project sites when neededPhysical Requirements:Ability to effectively coordinate with staff and key stakeholders ensure successfully program implementation.Language Requirements:Arabic, EnglishHow to applyIf you meet our requirements, please submit your resume via the link below; only applications submitted via our link are accepted.
