Fiji has set an ambitious goal of reaching high-income status by 2050, but growing climate risks threaten its development progress. Drawing on new climate risk, economy-wide and sectoral modelling, alongside extensive survey data, the Fiji Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) finds that climate change could reduce GDP by 3–7 percent by 2050, with severe shocks causing much larger short-term losses. Yet well-targeted adaptation and development reforms can offset 60-100 percent of this damage while supporting growth and jobs. The report identifies practical actions that can help climate-proof infrastructure, diversify tourism and agriculture, strengthen human capital and ecosystems management, and accelerate renewable energy and transport electrification. Prioritizing high-impact investments, mobilizing private capital, and strengthening public sector implementation will be critical to building a more resilient and prosperous Fiji.
