Learn about our vision, mission and values About the role Project Description Christian Aid Sierra Leone is implementing the UN Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF)-funded Women's Land for Peace project to strengthen women's leadership in peacebuilding and promote gender-transformative natural resource governance in Port Loko, Tonkolili, Kailahun and Kono districts. Working through local civil society partners, women's groups and relevant government institutions, the project addresses the structural barriers that limit women's participation in land governance and decision-making, while strengthening the implementation of the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE) Act and the 2022 Land Acts. Through capacity strengthening, advocacy, dialogue and community engagement, the project promotes women's land rights, inclusive natural resource management and peaceful conflict resolution, contributing to sustainable peace and social cohesion in Sierra Leone. Role purpose The Project Manager will provide overall leadership and coordination for the implementation of the Women's Land for Peace project. The postholder will oversee partner-led implementation across the four target districts, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of project outputs and outcomes, while leading project learning, results documentation, sustainability planning and project close-out. Based in Freetown with regular travel to the project districts, the Project Manager will provide technical support to implementing partners, coordinate project planning and reporting, monitor progress, manage project risks, and ensure compliance with donor, safeguarding and accountability requirements. The role will maintain strong relationships with partners, government counterparts, donors and other stakeholders at national and district levels, promoting effective collaboration and adaptive implementation throughout the remainder of the project. The role requires a self-motivated, dynamic and innovative professional with strong experience in peacebuilding, Women, Peace and Security, gender equality and social inclusion, local governance and partner management, together with knowledge of natural resource governance, land-related conflict and civil society capacity strengthening. About you Who we are looking for: Essential: • Master's degree (or equivalent experience where appropriate) in Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender Studies, Public Administration, Project Management, Social Sciences, Human Rights or another relevant field. • At least five years' progressively responsible experience managing complex, multi-component development or peacebuilding programmes in partnership with national and local organisations. • Demonstrated experience managing UN-funded projects, preferably under the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) or other Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) mechanisms. • Proven experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and adaptive management. • Significant experience working with civil society organisations, community-based organisations and local partners, including providing technical support and organisational capacity strengthening. • Strong understanding of peacebuilding, gender equality, Women's Peace and Security (WPS), governance and social inclusion programming. • Good understanding of donor compliance, grant management and financial oversight. • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of safeguarding, accountability and Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) policies and procedures. • Strong relationships and networks within Sierra Leone's civil society, governance and peacebuilding sectors would be an advantage. • Excellent report writing, communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong experience managing UN projects particularly PBF/MPTF grant management mechanism. Desirable: • Knowledge of and experience working in peacebuilding, civic space, local governance and accountability programming. • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with government institutions, civil society organisations, donors and other stakeholders. • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary, multicultural and partner-led programme environments.
