World Bank Pink Sheet data show broadly stable commodity prices in July, as lower oil, coal, metals, and fertilizer prices offset sharp increases in European natural gas and beverages.

The energy price index eased 1.1% in July, driven by declines in coal (-4.8%) and crude oil (-2.2%), partly offset by a 19.1% surge in Europe natural gas, according to the World Bank's Pink Sheet. The non-energy index was broadly unchanged. Agricultural prices rose 2.6% in July, as a slight decline in food prices (-0.3%) and a 4.3% drop in fertilizer prices were more than offset by a 17.4% jump in beverage prices. Raw materials slipped 0.5%. Metals declined 2.8% in July, led by aluminum (-8.1%), and lead and nickel (-5.3% each). Precious metals fell 5.2%, reflecting declines in silver (-11.8%) and platinum (-6.0%). The Pink Sheet is a monthly report that monitors commodity price movements.
