The Syria conflict is unique and complex; you will find that every day is different and there is always more to learn.Job SummaryReporting to the Information Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective management, security, and accessibility of CHDC data. You will develop a strong understanding of CHDC’s data entry, storage, capabilities and security processes, while serving as a key resource for the CHDC and Partner Portal (IPP). You will support partners with registration and access, and provide technical expertise in developing visualisations, maps and dashboards that turn complex data into clear, actionable information.Main ResponsibilitiesConflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)Be an expert user of CHDC and understand the methodology, with knowledge of the platformEnsure that information recorded is correctly categorized, promptly updated, and properly accessedMonitor, assess, and continuously improve the accuracy and precision of data collectedMay provide CHDC training and inductions to new and current staffINSO Partners Portal (IPP)Be an expert user of the IPP and understand the registration processGuide the partners through the registration process and provide solutions to questions about the systemMonitor and update the registration of INSO partners through the IPPReport & Visualization activitiesFill information needs and sources in collaboration with the Safety Advisors and Operations teamAggregate data for analysis and presentationWhen needed, produce high-quality graphs and other products to support INSO’s analysis and facilitate NGOs’ understanding of the conflictProvide visually relevant inputs to field missions, intended to gather data for INSO outputsProduce high-quality maps, graphs, dashboards, and other visual products, as needed, to support INSO analysis and help NGOs understand conflict dynamics.Prepare and format reports using Microsoft Publisher based on raw reports provided by the Safety Adviser, ensuring accurate presentation, clear layout, and timely delivery of finalized reports.Prepare and share the weekly incidents list (WIL).Partner Service RequestsEnsure timely and accurate fulfilment of partners’ requests related to incident lists, infographics, and mailing lists, including data preparation, updates, and dissemination as required.Coordinate assessment requests by directing them to the appropriate Safety Adviser, monitoring the assessment process, and providing timely responses to partners upon completion.Signal GroupsServe as the administrator for Signal groups, ensuring proper management, organization, and maintenance of group membership and communication channels.Manage the addition of contacts to Signal groups by adding only numbers received through official service requests and verifying that all added contacts are associated with authorized partners.Technical ReferenceActively work with Program, Operations, and Training departments to understand and respond to their needsTrain Safety Advisors (Deputies and Assistants), or any other position on data-entry responsibilities and data integritySupport the team in managing the monthly roundtable meetings.Any other tasks assigned by the Information Manager.Mandatory RequirementsEssentialMinimum two years of experience in data management and visualization, in a similar humanitarian organization and contextExperience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (such as Tableau)Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to the management of information in crisis contextsExperience with ArcGIS and strong technical skills, including creating topologically correct shapefiles and geodatabasesFluency in the English language, both written and verbalUniversity degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, GIS, or relevant fieldLegal eligibility to live and work in DamascusNice to Have:Knowledge of database management using SQLKnowledge of scripting languages such as Python or RPrior knowledge of the relevant region contextWorking experience in this regionCore CompetenciesProblem-Solving – Identifies issues, analyses causes and contributes to practical solutions.Attention to Detail – Works accurately and carefully, ensuring quality and reliability.Communication & Organisation – Communicates clearly, manages priorities and coordinates work effectively.Accountability & Resilience – Works independently, takes responsibility and remains effective under pressure.Integrity & Adaptability – Demonstrates confidentiality, ethical judgement and effectiveness in multicultural environments.Important Information for Previous ApplicantsCandidates who have already submitted an application for the recent Information Assistant vacancy are not required to reapply.
