Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.PRESENTATION OF THE MISSION:Solidarités International (SI) was registered in Ethiopia in December 2022, having previously implemented a WASH in Health intervention in Jijiga, Somali Region, in 2017. In November 2023, SI became the first humanitarian actor to operate in Mao Komo Special woreda (Benishangul-Gumuz) by rehabilitating water points in areas that had been inaccessible for three years. Currently, SI is operational in two regions of the country (In Tigray Region and Amhara Region).In Tigray, bordering Eritrea, focusing on hard-to-reach areas in partnership with Mums for Mums (MfM) SI is implementing an emergency multisectoral humanitarian programme in Ahsea and Rama Woredas of central zone, to support communities affected by drought, conflict, and displacement. Running from September 2024 to December 2025 (which is now to be extended until end of June 2026), the project aims to improve access to safe water, health services, and nutrition support, while addressing gender-based violence and mental health needs. Key activities include rehabilitating water systems and health facilities, community-based malnutrition screening, cash assistance for vulnerable households, and capacity-building for local actors.In Amhara region, Solidarités International (SI) and Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) are jointly implementing an integrated emergency response program in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, primarily focused on Health and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services. This program is part of a wider effort to address the significant humanitarian needs in the region caused by ongoing conflict and displacement.SI has been granted cost extension (the donor contract is extended until end of June 2026 with additional fund allocation) of existing project in Tigray and is looking for a Field Coordinator to continue the project activities in the same area.GENERAL OBJECTIVES :The Field Coordinator is the representative of the organization at field level. He/she proposes a strategy for his/her area, according to the geopolitical and humanitarian context, and ensures its implementation once validated. He/she checks and ensures that projects are carried out in accordance with the Solidarités International charter, respecting all internal and contractual procedures. He/she mobilizes the material and financial resources necessary for programs to run smoothly and supervises resource management. He/she coordinates the teams in place and is responsible for their security in his/her assigned zone.ISSUES AND SPECIFIC CHALLENGES :Implement activities across several woredas in a volatile and operationally constrained context, while ensuring quality, compliance and timely delivery of ongoing projects. Maintain access and programme continuity despite recurrent constraints linked to fuel availability, cash liquidity, telecommunications/network coverage, road access and market fluctuations. Maintain adequate preparedness for a potential deterioration of the security situation, including possible disruption of banking services, communications and movements.PRIORITIES ON THE 2-3 FIRST MONTHS :-Consolidate the base management structure and ensure clear responsibilities, delegation and reporting lines within Programme and Support teams.SECURITY CONSTRAINTS :The security environment in Tigray remains potentially volatile and can evolve rapidly, requiring continuous monitoring and strict compliance with SI security procedures. Main operational constraints include possible access restrictions, interruptions to telecommunications and internet, fuel shortages, banking/cash limitations and disruptions to road movements. Some operational areas may have limited or no network coverage, requiring reinforced movement tracking and communication procedures. The Field Coordinator must maintain a high level of preparedness, regularly review contingency arrangements, ensure critical resources are available, and adapt programme implementation and movements according to changes in the security and access environment. Staff safety and duty of care must remain central to operational decision-making.YOUR PROFIL :DIPLOMAS : A master’s degree (or equivalent field experience) in Humanitarian Action, International Development, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field is required.EXPERIMENT IN THE HUMANITARIAN SECTOR : more than 5 yearsEXPERIMENT ON SIMILAR POSITIONS : 3-4 yearsTECHNICAL SKILLS :Relevant management skills :Operation and team management skills include leadership, communication, and problem-solving as core competencies. Other essential skills are decision-making, time management, adaptability, and organizational abilities. Including a strong understanding of finance, and logistics processes.TRANSVERSAL SKILLS : Ability to work under pressure in a challenging and sometimes insecure environment; cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding policies (PSEA, Child Protection).LANGUAGES : Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of the local language(s) (e.g., Amharic, Tigrigna) is a strong asset.SI WILL OFFER YOU :A salaried position:According to experience, starting from EUR 3080 gross per month (2800 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 400.SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. The FC is the official representative of Solidarités International in his/her intervention zone for NGOs, administrative, political and local authorities and civil society. He/She participates in humanitarian forums and relevant coordination meetings
The FC Ensure that documents produced in his/her intervention zone meet deadlines and quality standards, respecting standard formats and procedures
The FC Organise regular Base meetings and Ensure that key operational information circulates properly, in his/her intervention zone and between the bases and the country coordination (sitrep).
ISSUES AND SPECIFIC CHALLENGES :

PRIORITIES ON THE 2-3 FIRST MONTHS :
-Consolidate the base management structure and ensure clear responsibilities, delegation and reporting lines within Programme and Support teams.
-Ensure timely implementation and close monitoring of ongoing activities through updated workplans, APU/OFU/LFU and procurement plans.
-Strengthen coordination between WASH, Livelihoods, MEAL and Support departments and ensure adequate balance of management capacity between the main programme components.
-Reinforce budget forecasting and absorption monitoring.
-Maintain and strengthen coordination with local authorities, clusters, partners and other humanitarian actors to avoid duplication and identify operational synergies.
-Ensure the base is prepared for emergency scenarios through updated contingency plans, communication systems, cash/fuel contingency measures and staff preparedness, especially this year with the evolving context
-Continue effort of base development with upcoming opportunities
