It collaborates with governments, regional organisations, civil society and other SPC divisions to pinpoint the needs and priorities of Pacific countries and communities and provide technical expertise to address them. This mission is realized through four main thematic work areas, or pillars, and a progressively integrated approach to programming that works towards achieving SPC’s development goals.The role – Socio-Economic Data Analysis Assistant will support the completion of data analysis for the Vulnerability Assessment of the Pacific Agriculture and Forestry to Climate Change publication and contribute to the development of a priority framing note that will guide actions to strengthen the provision of agriculture and forestry statistics from LRD to the PICTs.The key responsibilities of the role include:Data checking, organisation and reference managementSupport in consolidating all the relevant data extracted into a referencing database.Assist the review team to organise socio-economic and other technical information for the respective chapters.Undertake defined data cleaning, tabulation and basic analysis using agreed methodologies and templates.Compile relevant data for consideration in the priority framing note.Data extraction and publication supportCompile data, references and supporting information for use by the review team in drafting the socio-economic sections of the publication.Assist the Research for Development Adviser and the infographics team in extracting relevant data for individual chapters.Administrative and coordination supportAssist with scheduling and coordinating meetings between the review team, consultants, and contributing authors of the Vulnerability Assessment of Pacific Agriculture and Forestry to Climate Change publication.Draft minutes for circulation and approval by the review team.For a more detailed account of the key responsibilities, please refer to the online job description.Key selection criteriaQualificationsTertiary qualification in agriculture, agriculture economics, agribusiness and or equivalent body of knowledge and experience.Technical expertiseAt least 2 years of relevant work experience within the Pacific region.Experience organizing, cleaning or extracting data and maintaining references or research records.Experience providing administrative or coordination support for meetings involving diverse stakeholders.Good communication and interpersonal skills, creative thinker and ability to work independently.Language skillsExcellent English communication skills (oral and written).Interpersonal skills and cultural awarenessAbility to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment.Salary, terms and conditionsContract Duration – This vacant position is funded until 31 May 2027.Remuneration – The Socio-Economic Data Analysis Assistant is a band 6 position in SPC’s 2026 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 1,987-2,483 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration being given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.Benefits for Staff in a position advertised locally (EPAL) whose duty station is Suva – SPC provides medical and life insurance for eligible employees only.
